SILENT AUCTION FOR T-DAY

Lennoxville, July 25, 2006. Townshippers' Association is seeking donations for a silent auction to be held throughout the 2006 Townshippers' Day at the Richmond Fairgrounds on September 16. Proceeds from the auction will be used to help cover the expenses of this free annual event.

"Several individuals have already generously donated items for the auction," said Townshippers' Day assistant Julian Enright, "But more donations are needed. Anything and everything you might have to donate is welcome, from toys to gift items to certificates, so don't be shy if you have an item you would like to donate."

In past years, many entrepreneurs and businesses have found that participating in the T-Day silent auction is a great way to increase visibility for products or services. Townshippers' Day draws up to 10,000 people, many of whom are likely to browse through the auction and place bids.

According to Enright, it looks like an interesting mix of items will be found at the auction this year. Among other items, a set of antique saucers and several gift baskets have been collected. Closer to Townshippers' Day, the items and donors to the silent auction will be listed on the website www.tday.ca, so people who would like to browse in advance can just take a peek online.

Donations can be left with Julian Enright at the Richmond Town Hall located at 745 Gouin Street, or dropped off or mailed to Townshippers' Association's Sherbrooke or Cowansville office. You can also simply give us a call to arrange to have the item picked up. Lennoxville, June 8,2006. Planning for Townshippers' Day 2006 is well underway for September 16 at the Richmond Fairgrounds. This year's organizing committee, co-chaired by Gerald Badger and Roger Viens, mayors of Cleveland Township and Ulverton, is working at full-speed, planning the many events, activities and exhibits that will help make T-Day 2006 one of the best ever!

COMMUNITY GROUPS

Non-profit community groups established in and around the four communities hosting this year’s Townshippers’ Day (Cleveland Township, Melbourne Township, Richmond and Ulverton) are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to exhibit at the event. Participating in Townshippers’ Day is a great way to connect with both Anglophone and Francophone individuals from all across the Eastern Townships, while spreading the awareness of your work. Groups exhibiting at the event will also be able to expand their network of individuals and organizations operating in similar or complementary fields, as booths will be located based on the type of information on display.

Registering to participate at Townshippers’ Day is both easy and inexpensive. A booth at the event is only $10 for non-profit organizations who are members of Townshippers’ Association and $25 for non-members (this fee includes a membership to the Association, or being on the Association’s mailing list). Don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to increase your visibility among individuals and organizations located throughout the entire Eastern Townships area!

Community groups in the Val-Saint-François area can expect to receive a registration package to sign up for a booth at Townshippers’ Day in the upcoming weeks. SHARING OUR HERITAGE, OUR CULTURE, OUR LIVES

Lennoxville, May 17, 2006. . Townshippers’ Association announced today that four municipalities are joining forces to host Townshippers’ Day 2006: Richmond, Ulverton, Cleveland Township and Melbourne Township. On behalf of the Townshippers’ Day Organising Committee, the two Co-Chairs, Gerald Badger, Mayor of Cleveland Township, and Roger Viens, Mayor of Ulverton, are requesting financial and volunteer support for the September 16 event at the Richmond Fairgrounds.

“The Day’s slogan, Sharing our heritage, our culture, our lives (Partageons notre culture, notre patrimoine, notre milieu de vie), reflects the spirit of cooperation and friendship that these towns have always enjoyed,” said Badger. “We are wagering on that spirit being alive and well in our community, and we’re asking for a hand!”

FUNDRAISING
As with any event the size and scope of Townshippers’ Day, fundraising is crucial. The T-Day Fundraising Committee’s current activities include seeking financial and in-kind partnerships from area businesses, including donations for a silent auction. Other in-kind donations are also welcome. These could take the form of printing, publicity, food and beverages, and equipment (tables, chairs, audio-visual).

In exchange for their financial or in-kind support, partners will receive extensive visibility in T-Day promotional materials (brochures, posters, press releases), in Townshippers’ Association’s special T-Day edition of its quarterly newsletter Townships Crossroads, and on www.tday.ca. This special T-Day website is made possible by a corporate contribution from Kezber i Solutions.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Townshippers’ Day has always relied on its volunteer organizing team. Volunteers are an essential part of the T-Day tradition. The 2006 T-Day Organizing Committee is presently seeking volunteers to assist in organizing the children’s activities, food and exhibitions.

Les groupes participants élargissent aussi leur réseau d'individus ou d'organismes qui œuvrent dans un domaine semblable ou complémentaire au vôtre. Les stands sont répartis selon le domaine de l'information diffusée.

L'inscription comme participant à la Journée des Townshippers est facile et peu dispendieuse. Pour un organisme à but non lucratif, il en coûte seulement 10 $ (membre de l'Association des Townshippers) pour un stand et 25 $ pour les non membres (tarif pour une carte de membre ou pour vous inscrire sur la liste d'envoi de l'Association). Ne passez pas à côté de cette magnifique occasion d'augmenter votre visibilité auprès des gens et organismes situés partout dans tous les Cantons-de-l'Est!

COLLECTE DE FONDS
Comme pour tout événement de la dimension et de l'envergure de la Journée des Townshippers, la recherche d'appuis financiers est primordiale. Le comité Financement organise différentes activités afin de trouver des partenaires financiers et de services chez les entreprises et commerces dans la région, dont des dons pour l'encan silencieux. Tous les dons en biens/services sont acceptés; ils peuvent prendre la forme d'imprimerie, publicité, repas et boissons (non alcooliques) et équipements (tables, chaises, matériel audiovisuel).

En contrepartie de leur appui financier et/ou en biens/services, les partenaires obtiendront une visibilité imposante dans le matériel promotionnel de la Journée des Townshippers (dépliants, affiches, communiqués de presse), dans le numéro spécial de Townships Crossroads, bulletin trimestriel de l'Association des Townshippers, et dans le site Web www.tday.ca. Ce site Web dédié à la Journée des Townshippers est mis en ligne grâce à la contribution de Kezber i Solutions.

BÉNÉVOLES RECHERCHÉS
La Journée des Townshippers s'est toujours appuyée sur une équipe d'organisateurs bénévoles. Les bénévoles constituent un élément essentiel dans la tradition de la Journée. Hosted in partnership by the municipalities of Richmond, Cleveland, Melbourne and Ulverton, T-Day will be held on September 16 at the Richmond Fairgrounds in Cleveland.

Following in the footsteps of the 2005 T-Day at the Bedford Fairgrounds last year, the Board of Directors of Townshippers’ Association welcomed the suggestion of the Richmond Fairgrounds. “Holding T-Day at one of our historic fairgrounds makes sense, physically, historically, and culturally,“ said Townshippers’ Association President Heather Bowman. “And having four municipalities join forces in this way exemplifies the spirit of cooperation and camaraderie we have in the Eastern Townships.”
